DEFINATION OF COSMETICS AS PER INDIAN AND EU REGULATIONS

AS PER INDIAN REGULATIONS:
As per section 3 (aaa) of the drug and cosmetics act 1940 and rules 1945 cosmetic means any article intended to be rubbed poured sprinkled or sprayed or introduced into or otherwise applied to the human body or any part for cleaning, beautify ,promoting attractiveness or altering the appearance and includes any article intended for use as a component of cosmetics.
AS PER EU REGULATIONS:
EU cosmetics regulation 1223/2009 [ replacing directive 76/768/EU] 25 Applicable from July 2013 onwards.
In EU regulation cosmetic product means any substance or mixture intended to be placed to contact with the external parts of the human body ,hair system, nails, lips, and external genital or with the teeth and mucous membrane of the oral cavity with a view exclusively or mainly to cleaning them ,perfuming them, changing there appearance protecting them keeping them in good condition.
